02.05.19  A Warm, Midwinter's Day

2:00 PM   It's early February and a sunny, balmy 60 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon. The odd break, after a week of subzero temperatures, is at once lovely and disorienting. Nonetheless, the bees take notice and advantage. The yards are full of activity, with workers taking cleansing flights and briskly removing their dead from hive entrances and bottom boards. Survival so far seems good, but there are at least two months of cold days an nights ahead. God speed you on, ye persevering bees.
