Founded by Daniel Berry in 2012, Invisible Cities Apiary is a locally-oriented beekeeping operation based in the Massachusetts Pioneer Valley. We manage 100 honeybee colonies, producing raw seasonal honey, wax, propolis, and nucleus hives sold in the spring. Our beekeeping operation is treatment-free—meaning we forego the use of chemical treatments and antibiotics to maintain colony health. Instead, we opt for a more management-intensive beekeeping model (based on Kirk Webster's practices in Vermont) that relies on local queen-rearing, annual production of over-wintered nucleus colonies, and the use of Russian bees capable of coping with both long winters and common pests.
